Well, I do not know if this is really is step one but I need to start somewhere. I want to add Apple TV to my network. Before I do that, I think I will just connect it to my TV and see how it will work. To do that, I need to be sure I have a HDMI cable to connect from Apple TV to my Sharp Aquos TV. I did the smart thing and checked out the connections at the Display counter which they had one to look at. I saw it had a HDMI cable connection so I asked the Apple guy if the cable was included. He did not know, (duh) so he had to ask someone else. He came back and told me it is not included. OK. I then went to the TV section of Yodobashi Camera and go myself a 3 meter HDMI cable. Interersting enough, there are different versions so I had to ask again to get the lastest and greatest. Here is what I learned. There are 2 version of 1080 and 1080p. I do not know what the "p" stands for but it suppose to make the video streaming cleaner. There is also the different standards. The most recent one is HDMI V.1.3a. This was a bit tricky because there were other maker cables without the "a". The so-called "a"version is the most recent standard an it supports DEEP COLOR.
Now, sometimes I wonder what the difference between them and if it is just bull shit marketing. I bet if you connected a HDMI V.1.3 instead of a HDMI V.1.3a, I would not see any difference.
